Voigts, Edmond O.

Edmond O. Voigts, age 78 of Steger, IL, passed away on Monday, May 17,
2004. Mr. Voigts was a retired General Foreman on the shipping docks at the
Chicago Stamping Plant.

He is survived by his daughter, Candace (Robert) Eklund, and his son, Robert
Voigts both of Steger; three grandchildren, Meghan (Matthew) Bergin, Tiffany
Palhegyi and Jennifer (Charles Byrns) Voigts; three great-grandchildren,
Aidan and Annika Bergin and Charles Byrns; three sisters-in-law, Eleanor Witt
of South Chicago Heights, IL, and Carolyn Qunell and Marion Baron, both of
Steger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Voigts was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores, in 2001.
Funeral arrangements were made by the Smits Funeral Homes - Steger
Memorial Chapel on Thursday, May 20. Inurnment was at the Abraham
Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.

Mr. Voigts served with the US Navy in World War II aboard the U.S.S.
Bonhomme Richard in the Pacific Theater. He was a retired member of the
Steger Volunteer Fire Department, a life long member of Immanuel Lutheran
Church in Steger, a past commander and life member of Steger VFW Post
8283, a member of Steger American Legion Post 521, a former member of
Steger Kiwanis Club, a former member of the Chicago Heights American
Legion Drum and Bugle Corp and a graduate of Bloom High School. He was
also an avid golfer and bowler.
Vrehas, George J.

George J. Vrehas, age 77, of Schererville, Indiana, passed away Saturday,
April 20, 2002. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; two children: Mary (Mike)
Griner of Orland Park, IL and John G. Vrehas of Atlanta, GA; and by
numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Mr. Vrehas was the U.A.W. Local 588 Retirees Chapter Chairman Emeritus
and Past Chairman. Before retiring, he was a welder at the Ford Motor
Company Stamping Plant. He was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox
Church and Past President of the St. George Greek Orthodox Church Board.
