| Hale, John 'JP' P John P. Hale, 63, a retired Fork Truck Driver at the Chicago Stamping Plant and former UAW Local 588 union official, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2003. Mr. Hale served UAW Local 588 as District Committeeman, Unit Production Committeeman, Vice President, President and Chairman of the Retiree's Chapter. He also helped form a retiree's group that meets monthly in Knox, IN. Mr. Hale was born in Barbourville, KY but lived in Knox for 44 years. He was a verteran of the U.S. Mnarines, a member of the Knox Masonic Lodge; the Scottish Rite of South Bend, IN; the Orak Shrine of Michigan City, IN; and the Starke-Pulaski County Shrine Club. He officiated at many high school football and basketball games in the Knox area. He is survived by his son, Paul (Kathleen) Hale of Knox; a daughter, Debbie (Howard) Norem of Knox; three grandchildren, Shawn and P.J. Hale and Faith Norem all of Knox; four brothers, Billie G. and R.B. "Cob" Hale both of North Judson, IN; Arnold Hale of St. Louis, MO and Don Hale of Winamac, IN; three sisters, Mary Calabrese and Elma Brewer, both of Winamac; and Faye Back of Knox. He is also survived by his companion Irene Berger of Knox. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two brothers, Myrl Hale and James "Cotton" Hale. Funeral services were provided by the Braman and Son Memorial Chapel, 108 S. Main Street, Knox, 574-772-3030. Masonic services were accorded, and the Knox American Legion and the Starke County VFW performed military graveside services at burial at the Crown Hill Cemetery in Knox. |
| Hall, Hershal Hershal Hall, retired from the Chicago Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588 passed away last year, August 16, 2005 in Scottsboro, AL. He was 75. Mr. Hall worked at the Stamping Plant in the garage detailing cars. |
| Hamby Sr., James L. James L. Hamby Sr. of Chicago Heights, formerly of Alabama, died April 17, 2002. Mr. Hamby was a veteran of the US Navy and an inspector for Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights. He is survived by his wife, Vanetta; daughter Felicia Davidson of Elgin; step-daughter Loretta (Jerry) Bentley of Matteson; sons James Jr. (Daphne) of Broadview and Reginald of Japan; stepson Everett (Tina) Campbell of Nevada; brothers Willie of Chicago and George (Lillie) of Michigan; and five grandchildren. |
| Hamlett, Ralph J. Ralph J. Hamlett, a retired fork truck driver on the shipping dock and a member of UAW Local 588 passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005. He was 75 and a resident of Cedar Lake, IN. Burdan Funeral Home, Cedar Lake, IN handled the funeral arrangements. Visitation with the family was held on Thursday, March 24. Pastor Tom Shanahan officiated at funeral services on Friday. Burial followed at Graceland Pleasant Township Cemetery, Kouts, IN. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Hazel; three daughters, Beverly Hamlet of Cedar Lake, Sheryl (Glen) Pool of Cedar Lake, Janie (Bill) Braithwaite of Hebron, IN; one son, Steven (Bonnie) Hamlett of Cedar Lake; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Dorothy Hamlett. Mr. Hamlett was a 30 year plus member of Cedar Lake Lions Club, Cedar Lake Eagles, Wheatfield Masonic Lodge 32nd Degree Scottish Rites, Shriners, Cedar Lake Keenagers Club. He worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years. |
| Hammond, David L. David L. Hammond, 75, of Manteno, died Tuesday, October 28, 2003 at his home after an extended illness. He worked at the Chicago Stamping Plant from 1956 until 1970. He was also a pipefitter and a lifetime member of Pipefitters Union Local 422. Mr. Hammond is survived by his wife Shirley; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Cheryl Hammond of Manteno; his daughter, Vickie Hammond of Plainfield; his stepson, Paul Bagby of Manteno; his stepdaughter-in-law, Cindy Bagby of Manteno; his sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Robert Burgeson of Bourbonnais; his sister-in-law, Jackie Hammond of Manteno; and three grandchildren, Michael Hammond of Chicago, Lauren Bagby and Matthew Bagby, both of Manteno. He was preceded in death by his parents Millard and Charlotte Ward Hammond, his first wife, Kathy Hammond, his son, James Hammond; his brother, John Hammond; and his stepson, Dennis Bagby. Mr. Hammond served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of Manteno United Methodist Church, a member of the American Legion Post 755 in Manteno, a lifetime member of the VFW and currently a member of the Bradley VFW, the Moose and a lifetime member of the Manteno Sportsman's Club. Services were held at the Clancy-Gernon Funeral Home in Manteno. Burial was in the Elmwood Cemetery, Manteno. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley or to the Manteno Fire Department Ambulance. |
| Harris, Marvin Edgar Marvin Edgar Harris, age 64 years, passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at Methodist Hospital Northlake, IL. He was a UAW Local 588 member and retired from the Stamping Plant after 35 years of service. Mr. Harris was a Gary resident for 46 years, formerly living in Union Town, KY. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Betty; his mother, Artella Harris; his daughter, Michelle Tavorn, Mishawaka, IN; three sons, Stacy Harris, Denver, CO, Marvin (LaKeisha) Harris II, and Derrick, both of Gary, IN; his sister, Darlene (Lynne) Holt of Louisville, KY; his brothers, Rudolph Harris, Herschel (Mildred) Harris, Lawrence (Margaret) Harris, all of Gary, IN, and Larry (Gwen) Harris of Rosedale, IL; 17 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father George Harris and his brother Gene Harris. Funeral services were provided by the Guy and Allen Funeral Directors. Visitation was Sunday, June 20 at the Guy & Allen Funeral Chapel, 2959 West 11th Avenue. Interment was at Evergreen Cemetery. |
| Hasemeyer, Keith Keith P. Hasemeyer, 76, of Kankakee, a retired Salvage Repairman at the Chicago Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588, passed away February 11, 2004 at Riverside Medical Center. There was no visitation. Mr. Hasemeyer is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, Mark and Sue Hasemeyer of Bradley, Bruce Hasemeyer of Cambria, Kevin and Carol Hasemeyer of Steger, and Keith Hasemeyer Jr. of Gary, IN; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Laura and Tim Kyrouac of Ashkum, Suzette and Joseph Wilson of Morris, Cynthia and John Karasiewicz and Kathleen Lubben, all of Clifton; one sister-in-law, Mary Hasemeyer of Rockford; 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mercedes, his parents, Frederick and Laura White Hasemeyer; three brothers, Stan, Bob and Fritz Hasemeyer and six sisters, Laura, Libby, Ione, Heraldine, Doris and Janice. Mr. Hasemeyer worked for Ford Motor Company for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling. A burial service was held on Saturday, February 14, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Cemetery, Bourbonnais, IL. Deacon Francis Chamness officiated. |

| Hathaway, Carl Carl Hathaway, 58, died December 16, 2001 at his home in Sierra Vista, AZ. Mr. Hathaway was the first U.A.W. Local 588 Union appointee when he was chosen to serve as the Employee Involvement (E.I.) Faciliatator in 1983. E.I. was a joint program between Ford Motor Company and the Union. Hathaway was dedicated to helping hourly employees join and participate in the various team groups established by the program. One of the early accomplishments of E.I. was having it's members represent the Union and the Stamping Plant at the Chicago Auto Show for several years. Through the success of the early E.I. groups, many other joint programs have been established. Mr. Hathaway started as a production worker in 1965, was an Inspector in 1968 and became an Inspector - Tooling and Layout in 1972. He retired in 1996. He is survived by his wife and children. |
| Heidman, John A. John A. Heidman, 72, of Crete, formerly of Kankakee, IL, passed away Monday, June 27, 2005 at the Anchorage of Beecher. He was a retired Oiler at the Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588. He is survived by his wife, Donna and daughter Jan Heideman, Crete. He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne (Jean) of Heightstown, NJ., and Merle (Nancy) of Watseka, IL.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Grocken. Mr. Heidman was a Korean Conflict Army Veteran serving from 1953-1955, and a lifetime member of the Ashkum American Legion Post. A memorial gathering of friends and family members will be Saturday July 2, 2005 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at the Crete Funeral Home, 1182 Main Street, Crete. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family. |
| Heinlein, Richard Richard Blaine Heinlein, a retired supervisor of production control, died July 4, 2004 at his home in Beecher, IL. Services were held at the Hack Funeral Home in Beecher on Thursday, July 8. Burial was in Skyline Memorial Park, Monee. Mr. Heinlein is survived by his wife, Nina Jane Hopkins Heinlein; two daughters, Robin (Bill) Giese of Beecher and Heidi (Vern) Paul of Crete; a son, Robert (Debra) Heinlein of Crown Point, IN; grandchildren, Bill (Debi) Giese of Monee, Nicole Giese of Beecher, Michael Heinlein of Crown Point, IN and Tyler Paul of Crete; a sister, Evelyn Robinson of Marengo; and a sister-in-law, Lueen Heinlein of New London, NH. He was preceded in death by his parents, the Rev. Robert and Delia Currington Heinlein; a brother Robert Heinlein and a brother-in-law, the Rev. Kenneth Robinson. Mr. Heinlein retired in 1987 after 30 years of service at the Stamping Plant. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing and gourmet cooking. |

| Holmberg, Robert 'Bob' Robert "Bob" A. Holmberg, Sr., 80, a retired Quality Control Supervisor in 24 Dept. at the Chicago Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588, passed away Thursday, April 15, 2004 at the William Riley Hospice Residence in Munster. He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Lansing; five children, Robert L. (Genie) Holmberg of Cedar Lake, IN, Donna (John) Primmer of VT, William Holmberg and Diane Holmberg, both of Lansing, IN and Darren (Chris) Holmberg of Chicago; three grandchildren, Robert W. (Nicole) Holmberg of Crown Point, IN, Nicholas Holmberg of Mount Prospect, IL and Daniel Primmer of Vermont; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Holmberg and his niece, Carol Woodal. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 19, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7227 Hohman Ave., Hammond, Indiana, with Rev. Karl Davies officiating. Burial will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery, Chicago. Visitation was at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral, Lansing, on Sunday April 18. Mr. Holmberg was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Hammond, an WWII Army Veteran, and a Life member of Calumet City American Legion Post 330. He retired from the Ford Motor Company, after 28 years of service. He was an avid bowler at Plaza Lanes in Hammond. He was 78 and a resident of Manhattan, IL. Visitation will be Friday, May 13 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home (815-741-5500), 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. Funeral services will be the following day at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Earl Thornton officiating. Entombment will be at Elmhurst Cemetery. | Hurlbut, Francis Thomas Francis Thomas Hurlbut, age 75, a resident of Park Forest, passed away October 5th, 2004. He was a retired electrician at the Chicago Stamping Plant and a former officer and member of UAW Local 588. Mr. Hurlbut is survived by his wife Grace, his sister Rosie Overson; his brothers, John [Rachel] Hurlbut, Dan [Maxine] Hurlbut, Dennis [Terry] Hurlbut, Patrick Hurlbut and Richard [Rita] Hurlbut; his stepchildren Debra Montgomery and Beverly Griffin, Michael Raymond and Karen Tyler; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram and Gladys Hurlbut and his daughters Catherine and Caroline. Mr. Hurlbut was a proud member of the U.A.W. serving as Recording Secretary and Committeeman. He worked at Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights for 36 years as an electrician. He was a WWII Veteran, and was a ham radio operator [N9DJI]. The Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home in Park Forest made the funeral arrangements and a Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's in Park Forest. Both he and his brother, the Rev. Ernest Hensley, a retired Die Setter at CHSP, moved to Smith, KY after retiring. Enos was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Lester Britton, a retired automation tender at CHSP who also lived in Smith, KY before his death on March 12, 2006. |
