| Barborek, Dennis 'Denny' S. Dennis S. "Denny" Barborek, of Lansing, IL, passed away Tuesday, November 8, 2005. He was 65. Mr. Barborek was a retired automation electrician at the Chicago Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588. He is survived by his daughters, Denise Marie Barborek of Calumet City, IL and Donna Marie DeHart of Schererville, IN; his nieces and nephew, Karen Cahill of Palos Hill, IL, Susan (Russell) Davis and Jennifer (Scott) Buric, both of Downers Grove, IL and Thomas (Bambi) Barborek of Lisle, IL; and seven great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steven and Adeline, and his brother, Thomas. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 19, 2005 at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing with a mass celebrated at St. Ann Church. Interment was at Resurrection Cemetery, Justice, IL. Mr. Barborek was a long time Lansing resident and neighborhood walker. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ann Church or the charity of choice. |
| Barnes, Chalma 'Barney' V. Chalma V. Barnes, "Barney" age 88 of Hammond, IN passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2005. He was a retired automation millwright supervisor at the Chicago Stamping Plant. The Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home Schererville/Highland, IN handled the arrangements. Visitation was held on Friday with funeral services held on Saturday. The Rev. John Hart officiated. Burial was at the Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife of 67 years, Eileen; three daughters, Nancy Pariso of Crown Point, IN, Carol Richardson of Valparaiso, IN, Joyce (James) Ayotte of Minnesota; one son, Richard (Carole) Barnes of Miller, IN; one brother, Donald (Eva) Barnes of Arizona; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mr Barnes was a member of the First Christian Church of Highland Disciples of Christ, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Garfield Lodge #569 F.&A.M. who held a Masonic Service for him on Friday. He was also active in woodworking making several violins, dulcimers and guitars. |
| Bates, Rue 'Kent' Rue "Kent" Bates, age 84, of Lake of the Four Season, IN, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2006. He was a retired press operator at the Ford Chicago Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588. He is survived by his wife, Jean; his daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Bill Gulley; his grandson, William Gulley, all of Lakes of the Four Seasons; and his sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Ron Colbow of Marion, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rutherford and Margaret Bates; his son, Richard Bates, and his sister Naomi Bates Williams. Mr. Bates was a member of the Church of the Lakes of the Four Seasons and sang in the Men's Choir and the Church Choir. He was very active and proud of his involvement in the Masonic Lodge serving as a 50-year member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend, IN. He was a member of the Steel City DeMolay and served as Past Master of Roosevelt Lodge #715, a Past High Priest of the E. H. Gary Chapter #139 of Royal Arch Masons, a Past Illustrious Master of the E. H. Gary Council #103 of the Cryptic Masons, a Past Commander of the Gary York Rite Commandry #57, a Knight York Cross of Honor, Northwest Indiana York Rite Sovereign College, a charter member of the Yeoman of York, and a member of Orak Shrine and the Color Guard. Visitation, including a Masonic service, was at Rees Funeral Home-Winfield Chapel. The funeral service was held Saturday, November 18; Reverend Chris Nunley officiated. Cremation followed with interment at the Four Seasons United Methodist Peace Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made in Mr. Bates' name to the Four Seasons U.M.C. Choir Fund. |
| Bednar, Joseph J. Joseph J. Bednar, age 86, a retired automation electrician at the Chicago Stamping Plant and member of UAW Local 588 passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2006. Mr. Bednar was a founding resident of Park Forest, IL formerly living in Roseland. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and longtime member of Good Sam Camping Club Chapter 19. He was preceded in death by his son Dennis Bednar and, recently, by his wife of 65 years, Brunella "Bernie" on August 7, 2006. He is survived by his son Douglas (Katherine) Bednar; his grandchildren, Robert, Brian (Carolyn) Bednar and Barbara Vetter. He is also survived by his sisters Jennie Ozog, Mary Paraziana, Lorraine Gilligan, and his brothers, Leonard and Raymond Bednarczyk. Funeral arrangements were handled by Panozzo Brothers Funeral Home, 530 W. 14th St., Chicago Heights on Friday Sept. 29th. Cremation was private. Inurnment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. |
| Bell, Paul Robert Paul Robert Bell, retired welder-repairman at the Chicago Stamping Plant and the first Financial Secretary of Local 588, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2005 at St. James Hospital, Chicago Heights, IL. He was 79. Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Lois; three sons, James (Carla) Bell, Terry (Patricia) Bell, and Troy Bell; two daughters, Barbara (John) Ek, and Rhonda (Phil) Pombert; two brothers, Billy (Alice) Bell, and James Bell; one sister, Joyce (Sam)McMinnoway; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Pamela Bell. Visitation was held at the Steger Memorial Chapel in Steger, IL on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 and at the Koehler Funeral Booneville Chapel, Booneville, IN on Thursday, January 5. | Bertram, Harry J. Harry J. Bertram, 79, of Momence, died August 26, 2006 at his home. He was a retired automation tender at the Chicago Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588. His wife, Mildred; his parents, Nesbit and Isabelle Bertram; and his step-son, John Raiolo, preceded him in death. He is survived by his step-daughters Cleo Raiolo of Momence, Roseanne Tollerud of St. Paul, MN; one step-son Joseph Raiolo of St. Paul; three daughters, Sandra Locklear, Dorothy Bertram, and Harriet Maher, all of Florida; five grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, whom he raised, Sarah Raiolo of Momence; and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six brothers, Delmar Bertram and Paul Bertram, both of Florida, John Keehn of Chebanse and Bud Bertram, Walter Bertram, and John Bertram, all of Louisiana; and nine sisters, Jeannie Archer and Suzie Witte, both of Florida, Stella Marsh, Kathy Vining, Betty Marrow, Margie Moss, Sharon Wakefield, Nancy Bertram and Carol Bertram, all of Louisiana. Mr. Bertram was a veteran of World War II. He served in the Merchant Marines from 1942 until 1944 when he enlisted in the United States Army and served there until 1948. He was stationed in England and Germany. Funeral services were arranged through Cotter Funeral Home in Momence where visitation was held on August 29 and services were held on August 30. The Rev. John Franklin officiated. Interment with military rites by the Momence Honor Guard was held graveside at St. Patrick Cemetery, Momence. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley. |
| Boone, Daniel Daniel Boone, 75, a retired Press Operator at the Stamping Plant and a member of the UAW Local 588, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2003. Services were held at the W.W. Holt Funeral Home in Harvey, IL on Saturday, February 1, 2003. Mr. Boone was born in 1927 in Oneida, Arkansas where he married Christine Scott in 1948. He moved his family to Harvey, IL in 1950. He is survived by four daughters, Evelyn Jones-Arnet and Jackie Boone, both of Calumet City, IL, Annette (Charles) Sheriff-Robinson of Harvey, IL, and Brenda Boone of Dolton, IL; one sister, Rev. Elisa Armstrong of Markham, IL; three brothers, William (Zelitha) Wright of Phoenix, IL, David (Cora) Wright of Matteson, IL, and Selevan (Bernida) Wright of Chicago Heights, IL; three sisters-in-law, Mae Coley of Dixmoor, IL, Roberta Chaney of Dallas, TX, and Margery Albert of Marvell, AR; one brother-in-law, James Scott of Flint, MI; 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine; his parents, James and Willina Boone-Wright, three sons, Daniel Jr., John and Anthony; one daughter, Celestine; three sisters, Ernestine, Mary and Mattie; four brothers, Kenneth, James, Joseph and Melton; and one grandson, Kenith Sheriff. Besides his Ford Motor Company employment, Mr. Boone worked for the Illinois Central Railroad and was a member of Kings Highway Baptist Church. |

| Brandt, Kenneth E. Kenneth E. Brandt, 70, a retired Welder Repairman at the Stamping Plant and a member of UAW Local 588 passed away suddenly Sunday, January 19, 2003. He had worked at Ford Motor Company for 40 years. Mr. Brandt was born in Des Moines, IA, raised in Iowa City, IA and was a resident of Joliet, IL for the past 48 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, a life member of Belmont and Ingalls Park A. C, past president of the Belmont Little League Association and a member of New Lenox VFW. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Norene of Joliet; five children, Cheryl (Gene) Williams, Colleen Allison, and James (Diana) Brandt all of Joliet, Susan Altiery of Missouri, and Jeffrey (Annette) Brandt of Braidwood; 14 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Frances (John) Hedges of Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Blanche (nee Voss) Brandt; a granddaughter, Crystal Brandt; and several brothers and sisters. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 22 from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet. | Browning, Cletus L. Cletus L. Browning, of Peotone, formerly of Steger, died April 22, 2002. Mr. Browning was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Poke County, IL., the son of Cephus and Melinda Rullens Browning. He was a tool and die setter at the Ford Stamping Plant in Chicago Heights, retiring in 1974. He was a member of Manteno Baptist Church and a U.S. Army Air Force veteran. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, whom he married March 10, 1979, of Peotone; one son and daughter-in-law, Floyd and Jodi Browning of Batavia; one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Charles Garza of Dyer, Ind.; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. His first wife, Wilma, died in 1977; one stepdaughter, Barb Bloomquist; one brother, William Browning; and one sister, Katie Sellers, are deceased. Interment was at Skyline Memorial Park, Monee. | Browning, James James Sherman Browning, a retired Production Supervisor at the Chicago Stamping Plant, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2005 at St. James Olympia Fields Hospital. He retired after working 30 years for Ford Motor Company. He was 65. A resident of Manteno, he was also a part-time police officer there as well as an H&R Block tax preparer. He served four years in the U.S. Air Force and was vice commander of the Manteno American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, genealogy and playing with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two daughters and sons-in-law, Elisabeth and Gary Taft of Bradley, Heather and Roger Reitz of Gilman; five grandchildren, Kris, Kim and Kasandra Taft, Joshua and Jacob Reitz; four sisters and two brothers -in-law, Mattie and Frank McConnell of Mountain Home, AR, Rosetta Lovell of Shawneetown, Geneva and Danny Smith of Kankakee, Mary Smith of Manteno; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Bill and Lynn Browning of Wilmington, Tommy "Jody" and Nicki Browning of Bradley, John "Harvey" Browning of Shawneetown; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents, Hubert and Gladys Hooven Browning; three brothers and one sister are deceased. Funeral services were provided by the Brown Funeral Home of Manteno with visitation held at the First Baptist Church in Manteno on Monday, May 16. He had formerly lived in Cedar Lake, IN and Burnside, IL. | Bereolos, Peter Peter Bereolos, 85, of Kankakee, died July 7, 2004 at his home in Momence. He began working for Ford Motor Company at the Chicago Stamping Plant in 1956 and retired in 1979. Graveside services, with military rights, were held at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Fitzpatrick Funeral Directors were in charge of the arrangements. Surviving are one son, Randal Bereolos of Kankakee; two daughters, Rebecca Mason of Manteno and Renella Gibson of Palm Coast, FL; two sisters, Theresa Love and Beverley Harwood, both of Bourbonnais; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Flora Randall Bereolos, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Bereolos served with the U.S. Army during World War II. |
